About
We Believe Print Is Alive
Print Ain’t Dead is an independent publication for designers, writers, publishers, and anyone who’s ever felt a jolt of satisfaction holding a freshly printed page. We launched because we were tired of the narrative that print is dying. It isn’t. It’s evolving — and the people doing the most interesting work with it deserve a spotlight.
What We Cover
We write about the full spectrum of print: letterpress studios and digital offset presses, independent zine makers and major magazine art directors, paper manufacturers and risograph experimenters. If ink is involved, we’re interested.
Our categories include:
- Print Culture — the history, sociology, and future of print media
- Typography — type design, font history, layout principles
- Publishing — books, magazines, newspapers, and independent publishing
- DIY Printing — letterpress, screen printing, risograph, linocut
- Print Design — editorial design, packaging, identity systems
Our Philosophy
We don’t chase trends. We don’t chase clicks. We write long, researched pieces that we’d want to read ourselves. We believe that good writing — like good print — deserves to exist in a form that respects the reader’s time and intelligence.
Print Ain’t Dead is ad-light, algorithm-free, and written by people who genuinely care about the subject. That’s the whole point.
